Abstract

The 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia stipulates that every Indonesian citizen has an obligation to participate in efforts to defend the country, as regulated in Article 27 Paragraph 3. One form of developing attitudes to defend the country is through compulsory military education which has been implemented in several countries such as South Korea. In Indonesia, basic military training is only given to members of the Indonesian National Army, which is essentially something that is directly related to their profession. This article aims to explain the public's perception of the implementation of military conscription in Indonesia in the form of a reserve component (komcad), which is part of the state's defense and security system.
