The Evolution of State Sovereignty in the Context of Globalization : A Critical Analysis
Keywords:
State sovereignty, globalization, transnational forces, national autonomy, global governanceAbstract
This study critically examines the evolution of state sovereignty within the context of globalization. As global interconnectedness intensifies, traditional notions of sovereignty are increasingly challenged by transnational forces, international institutions, and economic interdependence. The objective of this research is to analyze how globalization reshapes state sovereignty and to explore the implications for national autonomy and governance. Using a qualitative approach, the study conducts a critical analysis of historical and contemporary perspectives on sovereignty. The findings reveal that while globalization constrains state power in certain domains, it simultaneously offers opportunities for states to enhance influence through strategic alliances and participation in global governance. This duality highlights the adaptive nature of sovereignty in the modern era. The study concludes that state sovereignty is not diminished but rather transformed, necessitating a redefinition that accommodates the complexities of globalization. These findings contribute to the ongoing debate on sovereignty by providing a nuanced understanding of its evolving dynamics. The implications of this study are significant for policymakers, international relations scholars, and political theorists seeking to navigate the challenges of governance in an interconnected world.
